Message from the President

Dear Members,
As I prepare my last newsletter address to the Chapter this year, I feel very privileged to be part of such great leadership. The team I have been fortunate enough to lead has worked diligently to advance the landscape of our chapter operations and services. The Change Management process can be complicated to execute but we have remained focused on the endless opportunities of growth that it can yield. The team took tremendous strides encouraging PMI Minnesota to remain a top chapter globally, but most importantly to provide more first-rate services for our members including:

  • Outreach opportunities – increasing the number of learning and networking events for North Dakota and throughout the extended region of Minnesota
  • More affordable event and networking opportunities
  • Educational scholarships – supporting students enrolling in project management programs
  • Regional and global recognition of digital capabilities – boosting operation efficiencies
  • Accounting audits – capturing any gaps in our accounting systems supporting best practices

These are only some of the successes our Chapter has been privy to over the past year and they could not have been accomplished without the dedication and wisdom of our volunteers.

Other improvements included the restructuring of our Operations Committees to hone in on more effective ways to serve our members. Our committee leaders did an amazing job this past year. As mentioned earlier in my letter, the Change Management process provided improvement as well as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the chapter, which enables volunteers to determine where more efficiency was needed. Overall, it proved to be a tough year in some areas but, we, the Board Leadership, as well as Committee Leadership and countless volunteers, prevailed.

Finally, I encourage you to look at our great achievements which have been praised by the Global Project Management Institute. Many accomplishments have been made in 2018 on both individual and large-scale initiatives and I look forward to what is coming in the future. Thank you all very much for your continuous support of PMI Minnesota and I wish each of you great success in the coming year!

Best regards,

- Mohamed F. Diab  MBA, Ph.D., A.M.ASCE
PMI-Minnesota Chapter President & CEO
